important for people facilitating skillshares...
Submitted by Skillshare on Thu, 14/02/2008 - 9:11pmto make sure that people want to come (and come back) we thought awhile ago that one of the most important things is to make them as interactive and participatory as possible. to those ends we found it helpful to think of it as a basic 40/ 60 format with timing: spend about 40 percent introducing the material and engaging with it, and 60 percent encouraging people to ask questions and lead a discussion. ofcourse if you want to make the whole thing a discussion that is also brilliant. the key point being that its not just one person talking for the entire time and that people feel like they can also contribute. if you want to do practical enjoyable things that is also totally recommended as is bringing food/ drinks etc. just think of what kind of event you yourself would have the most fun being a part of, and the kinds of things that you feel could make an event even better.
